Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sparked a significant controversy by alleging that the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government used animal fat instead of ghee in the famous Tirupati laddoos, a sacred offering at the Sri Venkateswara temple. These statements were made during a recent NDA legislature party meeting.

Naidu’s claims have been met with fierce criticism from YSRCP leaders. Former TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy described the accusations as “malicious” and politically motivated, arguing that such remarks disrespect the beliefs of millions of devotees. Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh also expressed his shock over the allegations, emphasizing the need to protect the religious sentiments of the community.
In response to Naidu’s comments, YS Sharmila, president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, has called for accountability. She urged Naidu to conduct a high-level inquiry if his claims are true, insisting that the sanctity of the temple must be preserved.
Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, another former TTD chairman, joined the chorus of disapproval, calling for Naidu to retract his statements and apologize. He stated that such allegations undermine public trust and faith.
This incident highlights the ongoing political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, particularly around issues of religion and public sentiment. As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely to see how the leaders address these serious allegations.
