Delhi and surrounding regions were hit by moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday, leading to a significant drop in temperatures. The downpour, which began early in the morning and continued throughout the day, has prompted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an “orange” warning for Delhi, indicating the potential for severe weather conditions.

The rainfall has caused a temperature drop of nearly 10°C, bringing the capital city into a bitterly cold spell. The IMD also issued a hailstorm alert for the region, with the possibility of hail affecting several areas in North India. The “orange” alert remains in effect for Friday, while a “yellow” alert has been issued for Saturday and Sunday, signaling that lighter rainfall and weather disturbances are expected to continue through the weekend.
As the rain and cold weather sweep across the city, it is expected that the conditions will persist, making travel and outdoor activities challenging. The ongoing weather patterns also bring a cold wave to nearby regions such as Himachal Pradesh, which will likely face harsher conditions.
Residents of Delhi and surrounding areas are advised to stay updated on weather reports and take precautions as the rains continue and the temperature continues to drop over the next few days.
